
Holly Fischer is a New York City-based cinematographer and director, passionate about storytelling across documentary, narrative, and commercial work.
As in-house Director of Photography at Refinery29 (2017–2020) and VICE Media Group (2020-2024), she helped shape the visual style of acclaimed series like Hair Me Out, Beauty with Mi, Street Food Icons, Dear Black Love, Overlooked and The Story Of, working with brands such as Adidas, Chanel, Target and Porsche.
Her independent work includes feature documentary Black As U R (2022), the recipient of multiple awards, including the ‘Panavision Award for Outstanding Feature’ and Frameline’s inaugural ‘Out in the Silence’ Award, conferred on “outstanding film projects that highlight brave acts of visibility, especially in places where such acts are rare and unexpected.”
As a director, she has worked with YoungArts, Bloomberg Philanthropies, Refinery29, BBC4, and The Gates Foundation.
Recent highlights include a feature documentary on the Paralympic silver medalist Ali Truwit, the first season of HBO's Evolve & Flex with Lance Fresh, and the directing of two record-performing TakeOne episodes.
